At Roop, we want every waxing treatment to be smooth, comfortable, and effective. Whether you’re new to waxing or a regular client, proper preparation and aftercare are essential to achieve the best results while keeping your skin healthy and irritation-free.
Before Your Waxing Appointment
To prepare for your hair removal session, please follow these simple steps:
- Let your hair grow to at least ¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice) for the wax to grip effectively.
- Gently exfoliate the area 24–48 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin and help prevent ingrown hairs.
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, or heat treatments for at least 24 hours before waxing.
- Do not apply lotions, oils, or deodorant on the day of your appointment, especially in the treatment area.
- Avoid caffeine or alcohol right before your session, as they may increase skin sensitivity.
- Let us know if you’re using any medications or skincare products that can thin the skin (e.g., retinoids, Accutane).
- Inform us of any allergies or skin conditions during your consultation to ensure safe product use.
After Your Waxing Treatment
Following the correct aftercare will help soothe your skin and prevent irritation or ingrown hairs:
- Avoid hot baths, showers, saunas, and exercise for at least 24 hours after treatment to reduce the risk of irritation.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent friction in the waxed area.
- Do not apply perfumed products, deodorants, or tanning products for 24 hours.
- Avoid touching or scratching the area to minimise the risk of infection.
- Gently exfoliate starting 2–3 days after treatment (and regularly after that) to help prevent ingrown hairs.
- Moisturise daily with a fragrance-free lotion to keep your skin soft and smooth.
- Avoid sun exposure and always apply SPF if the area is exposed.
Redness or mild sensitivity is normal and usually fades within a few hours. If you experience persistent irritation or signs of infection, please contact us right away.
